Working Entitlement Codes
Working Entitlement codes
The 31st August, is the deadlines for parents applying for eligibility codes. These only apply to working entitlement eligibility codes for 2, 3&4 year olds. Parents must have applied for and received their eligibility code before those dates in order to access a place for autumn term. If a parent does not get their code until after 1st September or later they will not be eligible for the working entitlement hours until Spring 2024.
Disadvantaged 2 Year Old codes
2 year olds do not have an application date deadline. The only deadline that must be applied is that that they must have an eligible code before accessing their funded place – providers can support parents to apply for their code and if the application does not confirm eligibility providers can view evidence and let our team know that a parent is eligible so that we can update their application. Please view and keep any evidence for your records.
EYPP – there is no application deadline but eligibility must be confirmed at the beginning of the term being applied for and by the latest headcount date. Providers can support parents to apply for their code and if the application does not confirm eligibility providers can view evidence and let our team know that a parent is eligible so that we can update their application. Please view and keep any evidence for your records.
Children in Foster Care
3 and 4 year olds who are looked after may be entitled to 30 hours extended entitlement if their foster carer and their partner if applicable, are in paid employment outside of their Foster Care role. These applications cannot be made via the usual route of the Childcare Choices website and have to come directly to the local authority that is responsible for the child.
The foster carer or social worker should email earlyeducation@birmingham.gov.uk for an application form. We will confirm with Birmingham Virtual School that the child is known to them.
The same deadlines apply - they must have a code by 31st August 2024 in order to access 30 hours from September 2024 for Autumn term so applications need to be made in plenty of time to enable us to process and issue the codes on time. As the applications have to be countersigned by other professionals please encourage foster carers to apply as soon as possible to avoid delays.
If the application is successful we will issue a code that begins with 400. As with all 30 hours codes you will still need to check the code on portal to make sure it is eligible for the current term before agreeing the 30 hours start date.
2 year olds would qualify for the current disadvantaged 15 hours funding.
